Notes From Resa: The Invisible Work of Becoming Her
Homework Included: A Self-Discovery Exercise
Maybe, in some spiritual twist, I caught a glimpse of my future self. That woman looked eloquent, busy, focused. She had that “put-together” energy. She looked like someone I’d want to become.
I don’t know her name. I never will.
But that moment planted something in me. It gave me a vision of who I could be.
from today’s post.
Hey, evening….
I truly love Sundays. There's something romantic about the idea of resetting the week. Well, at least for me.
Sorry for the break last week — I was extending my Mother’s Day. For some reason, that day is becoming more of a reminder of the sacrifices I will have to continue to make — not for myself, but for my kids. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just a signal that I’m getting older. That everything I do now has to be done with intention. I can’t afford many mistakes, because those choices can trickle down to my children.
Before we dive into the topic at hand, I just want to encourage every parent in this community: keep going.
Some days feel like: “WTF — when do I win?” But I promise you, the longest race you’ll ever run is life. You’ve got to recognize the small wins as they come. Because when you eventually take a step back — when you zoom out and get the helicopter view — all those tiny wins will have compounded into a better life. Not just for you, but for your kid(s) and the generations that follow.
Chin up. You’re doing better than you think.
Now — this topic. I love it.
“How I’m Becoming Her.”
(And if you’re a guy reading this — Her is symbolic. This is for you too.)
Becoming her is not a one-path kind of thing. Life unfolds in phases, stages, seasons, shifts — call it what you want. But it’s never a straight line.
The most important shift happens during resistance — that time where you're confused, maybe struggling, uncertain about what comes next. That’s not a dead end. That’s not failure.
That is the shift of purpose.
