I’m a content creator, so consistency is key..and MOST days you want to work and not have to worry about content…and you have to make your life look a little sexier than it would normally go in the day that aided in my exhaustion.

- Today’s blog post

Hey Board Members —

Happy Monday — and hello to all my new board members. I know I have future entrepreneurs or startup founders in my community and want to continue to share some strategy around that side as well. Frankly alot of us will become founders in the future with the decline of jobs, so even if you think this is not the path for you - to understand how this side function is a crucial part of self development in the career aspect of your life.

My Weekly Strategic Picks

For those looking for great resume adds here are a few courses that I’ve added to my *Must Take* List:

  • Microsoft AI & ML Engineering Professional Certificate

    • This is a solid AI course. This has tons of benefits to your resume add. First, the NAME of who is issuing the certificate is always important. Second, this is a great merger course between AI and Machine Learning. You want longevity with you career — AI & ML is the only way to go.

Agentic AI and AI Agents for Leaders Specialization

    • The reason I added this is because you will see an uptick in AI Agent conversation in the next couple of months, you want to be ahead of the curve. This will be a major plus if you are certified and added on your resume.

  • Microsoft Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate

    • I have alot of people in this community who is interested in cybersecurity, so I am happy Microsoft picked up this course!

A Major benefit if you invest in the certificate portion of these classes so you have something to show off!

Boardroom Action Items

Are You 9–5 or Entrepreneur-Coded?

  1. I prefer clear direction and expectations over making things up as I go.

  2. I feel safest with a steady paycheck and benefits.

  3. I like building systems more than following them.

  4. I’d rather manage risk than avoid it.

  5. I’m willing to fail publicly to figure it out.

  6. I need structure and deadlines from someone else to stay on track.

  7. I often spot ways to improve things and think, “I could build that.”

  8. I enjoy wearing multiple hats, even if I’m not good at all of them.

  9. I want to scale my time, not just trade it.

  10. When there’s a problem, I ask “who’s going to fix it?” vs. “how can I solve this?”

If your scores lean more toward…

Mostly 1–3 on odd-numbered questions

You're more 9–5 mindset coded: You value structure, clarity, and stability. You’re likely a solid operator or team player. This isn’t a bad thing — your skills are essential in any business or career lane.

Mostly 4–5 on odd-numbered questions

You’re entrepreneur-coded: You lean toward independence, ownership, and high risk tolerance. You’re likely drawn to creation, chaos, and carving your own lane.

Split mindset?

That’s power. You might be a future intrapreneur, someone who can build like an entrepreneur within a company or team — or a founder in transition m

In-Depth Analysis:

If you didn’t know, almost two years ago I decided to build in public. I have SO much to say about this journey so buckle in…

So, lets talk about the pros… First, I felt some relief public talking about the journey so people would stop asking me how the tool is going. It was almost like my community was additional employees that understood where we were in the project so it was like “oh, she is behind because she fired her main developer, or she is behind on marketing because she moved offices….etc” Next, I built a community around people who were going through similar journey and were able to share some of their vices in their business which helped me immensely get through some tough days. I also loved creating a new lane and series — I didn’t see alot of founder if any at all have this idea and it felt so unique to me and my experience and you guys know I love original things.

Now, the cons…..

bum, bum, bum….

It sucked for so many of the same reasons it was great. The same community I built was also judgmental of all of my steps, choices, and questioning alot of my decisions. It was already hard to stay the course on my own choices, but being pulled multiple directions made my decision making skills (urgh urm tougher). It was hard to celebrate my wins in public as much as it was difficult to show the set backs. As much as you THINK people would be excited… alot of people like the journey of failure because its relatable, easy to attain…..but once you start winning —- even in the slightest you sort of become non relatable to most. True supports will support but most people love to watch the down times ( there is a bigger nuance to this reasoning I don’t want to get into right now). I’m a content creator, so consistency is key..and MOST days you want to work and not have to worry about content…and you have to make your life look a little sexier than it would normally go in the day that aided in my exhaustion. Lastly, ugh MY BIGGEST CON — would be that people would steal my ideas as I would build, OMG…. at some point I started telling older build stories so that I can give my product building a little runway away from the public eye.

Overall, I would probably never do that again. It was a great learning experience for me, but now I have to learn how to transition to doing something else without opening that door so widely.

For those of you that want to build in public, I will drop some honest advice below.

In the Executive Access section we are going to discuss how to correctly build in public if you are wanting to duo in content creation and entrepreneurship.
